Documents for a Family and Personal Status Consultation

An initial checklist for organising information and documents while protecting privacy before a consultation.

Documents for a Family and Personal Status Consultation

Updated from official UAE sources — excluded from indexing until final approval.

Personal status matters depend closely on facts, privacy, capacity, nationality, religion and the applicable law. Federal Decree-Law No. 41 of 2024 replaced Federal Law No. 28 of 2005, so older content must be updated before it is relied on.

What to prepare for a consultation

Prepare the parties’ details, marriage document, identification, birth certificates and any earlier judgment, agreement or file. For maintenance issues, organise income, expenses and transfers relevant to the request.

  • Short chronology
  • Official documents
  • Earlier judgments or agreements
  • Only relevant correspondence
  • Any current hearing or deadline

Privacy and document integrity

Do not publish children’s details or family documents through public channels, and do not alter messages or images. Send only what the firm requests through an appropriate channel after opening an enquiry.

Do not rely on another case’s result

Outcome and procedure vary with the facts, jurisdiction, applicable law and evidence. Advice can clarify options and risks but cannot guarantee a particular result.
